Horizon Fitness – Elliptical Trainer Reviews

Horizon Fitness are another top manufacturer of home fitness equipment - they make Treadmills and Exercise Bikes as well as our favorite - Elliptical Machines!

They have changed in recent years and now have several other Brand names under their company umbrella - the parent company is Taiwan based Johnson Health Tech - JHT. They also make the brands : AFG, Matrix and Vision Fitness - just so you know! You can spot similarities across the different brands in the style and some components of their machines.

So, back to Horizon and their ellipticals. They have trainers in several price ranges - from Budget to Premium. Right now they have 3 main ranges :

Quick Start Series

This range is lower priced and includes their popular EX models. I have reviews of the Horizon EX 57 and the great value EX 69-2 . Decent starter machines that have been reduced in price since the development of the higher spec. trainers. Great value to be had!

Horizon Evolve Series

These step up in price from the older EX models. They feature a folding frame design aimed squarely at home use - especially smaller homes! This range is a definite step up in quality and competes well in the under $2000 bracket in terms of quality and features.

Their 2 stand out models are the Horizon Fitness Evolve 3 and the Evolve 5 both great value - and good quality machines.

Horizon Elite Series Ellipticals

This has been released as their Premium range - although still affordable for most keen users - especially good value is the Elite 9. For this range the ride quality has been improved with a heavy duty fly wheel and extra levels of difficulty. A higher spec. console and more programs make this range competitive.

My Top Picks

EX 69-2

Horizon EX 69-02

In the budget range the EX 69-2 is actually a great buy right now. Although an affordable model - it gives a realistic elliptical workout and will be an ideal starting point for many first time users. It lacks some of the more advanced features you get with more expensive models but the workout quality is really very good.

If you don't value fancy features and a huge range of programs - this could be a great buy at the lower end of the price scale.

Horizon Elite 9

I liked the quality of this model - and the price! It really does look and feel like a much more expensive trainer. With some clever interactive visual features to help you train harder and a very advanced console - tech lovers will appreciate the features offered.
This one is a really good buy at this price range.

Horizon seem to be able to offer extra quality without big price tags - probably a benefit of the size of the whole company and the range of brands they support. They are popular machines and are growing fast with the introduction of new models at reasonable prices. Quality trainers that cost less - what's not to like!
